About me

Hello, I am Inga Vyšniauskienė.

I obtained my BA (2006) and MA (2008) degree in English Philology at Vilnius University.
During my studies the areas of interest have ranged from literature (my BA paper) to corpus linguistics, cognitive linguistics, grammar and finally I decided to search for social meaning of everyday linguistic practice. I was lucky to find the area of research which is rich and yet unexplored in Lithuania – youth language.

I am now working on my Ph.D. thesis, analysing the polylingual practice of Vilnius youth and its social significance, a means of identity construction.

Apart from my research of youth language, I like teaching. I started teaching at Vilnius university right after getting my MA in English Philology.

My research interests:
  • youth language,
  • language attitudes,
  • language and identity,
  • language contacts.
